ABOUT ME
I’m Catie Hydeman, founder of CMH Leadership Group and creator of the VOICE Leadership Model. I help women leaders lead with integrity, build meaningful connection, and trust their voice — so their leadership feels as strong as it is authentic.
My leadership journey began long before executive roles and large-scale operations — it started on the front lines.
At fourteen, I entered the workforce in fast food. I later became a waitress, where I learned the importance of relationships, presence, and genuine connection. In brick-and-mortar retail, I progressed from sales associate to general manager, gaining firsthand experience in grit, accountability, and performance under pressure — opening and closing stores, working holidays, and leading teams face-to-face.
Those early roles shaped how I lead today.
I went on to work in contact centers as an agent, supporting customers through financial crises. That experience deepened my empathy and reinforced something that has always been true for me: helping others comes naturally, and caring deeply is a strength.
As I moved into the corporate world — including senior leadership roles at organizations such as Amazon — empathy became a differentiator. It allowed me to build trust, lead diverse teams, and navigate complexity. However, it was not always recognized as a leadership asset. Like many leaders, I found myself at times attempting to replicate others’ leadership styles in order to be seen and heard — an approach that never felt sustainable or effective.
My career expanded further as I moved into operations and fulfillment, leading increasingly large, complex, and fast-growing organizations. While my academic background in comparative literature strengthened my ability to identify patterns, solve problems, and think systemically, I was operating in a world defined by logistics, lean methodology, advanced systems, and rapidly evolving technology.
To keep pace, I invested continuously in my education — studying finance, business, and organizational leadership — while leading tens of thousands of employees across multi-site, high-growth environments.
What became clear over time was this: my greatest impact came when I stopped replicating and started leading authentically.
Using my voice — not through authority, but through clarity, integrity, and connection — consistently delivered stronger outcomes for people and the business. That realization became the foundation of the VOICE Leadership Model:

Connection — creating meaningful, human-centered relationships
Empowerment — developing others while driving results
